Canadian ETF knowledgebase
The fund seeks to track, to the extent reasonably possible and before fees and expenses, the performance of a broad Canadian equity index that measures the investment return of publicly traded securities in the Canadian market.
Currently, this Vanguard ETF seeks to track the FTSE Canada Index (or any successor thereto).
It invests primarily in the largest Canadian stocks.
The FTSE Canada Index is part of a range of indices designed to help North American investors benchmark their investments.
The FTSE Canada index is a market-capitalisation weighted index representing the performance of Canadian large and mid cap stocks.
The index is derived from the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (GEIS), which covers 98% of the world's investable market.
