The fund seeks to provide long-term capital growth by replicating, to the extent possible, the performance of the MSCI Emerging Markets Minimum Volatility Index (USD), net of expenses.
The investment strategy of XMM is to invest primarily in shares of a U.S. iShares Fund (iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Minimum Volatility ETF) that seeks investment results that correspond generally to the applicable index.
The MSCI Emerging Markets Minimum Volatility Index measures the performance of equity securities in global emerging markets that have lower volatility relative to the equity securities included in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index.
The index aims to reflect the performance characteristics of a minimum variance strategy applied to large and mid cap equities across 21 Emerging Markets countries.
The index is calculated by optimizing the MSCI Emerging Markets Index, its parent index, for the lowest absolute risk (within a given set of constraints).
Historically, the index has shown lower beta and volatility characteristics relative to the MSCI Emerging Markets Index.
